Greetings! I know I have written about this at some length at some point in the past, but want to again.
I just read a brief devotional email about the disciple Judas Iscariot. He’s the one who betrayed Jesus. Judas was one of the twelve Jesus choose to be His followers. Judas was given the duty of keeping the money bag, but he would take money from it. Ultimately it was money was what Judas was after. He betrayed Jesus for money.
The author said the word “betray” means “lifted up”. That’s exactly what Judas did to Jesus, he lifted Him up.
I’ve done a lot of things I’m ashamed of and shudder at the thought of. Each of these are a betrayal, in a way.
All of this makes me think of a song by a Christian music group called Lighthouse. The song is called “Everything”. Some of the lyrics go like this:
“How can I stand here with You and Not be moved by You?
Will you tell me how can it be any better then this?”
May we all never settle to be around Jesus, but seek to be transformed by Him.
