Greetings! Not doing too well with this blogging thing, am I? I will get better sooner or later.
I’ve started reading a book called Pure Eyes by Craig Gross this month. Very good book. I’ll write about when I finish reading it. In the book Mr Gross puts a quote from CS Lewis’ book The Weight of Glory.
Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
I love this quote from CS Lewis. The Old Testament Prophet Isaiah says God’s ways are much higher then ours. God wants so much more then even we could possibly imagine.
I’ve heard it said the best way to make God laugh is to tell Him our plans. No matter what we can dream up, He has so much more up His sleaves the we could possibly think of.
I’m striving to trust Him in His plans.
God bless us. Grace and Peace.
