Archive for October, 2008

Greetings one and all! I am going to post the grades my got from the past term. Sorry I didn’t post for so long. I got them some time last week, but was so busy. I want to post my grades to hold myself accountable to my supporters. So here are my grades:

Confident Preaching: 100

Christian Evidences: 76

Intro to Ministry Studies: 81

Life/ Teachings of Jesus: 93

OT History One: 70 (Totally an act of grace!)

Spiritual Disciplines: 93.

I will difinetly write a newsletter for October nearer the end of this month or the start of November.

A special word of thanks goes to Carlton and Nikki Whitlock for sending me a card with a gift certificate and some Halloween candy. A very big thank you to them. And a very big thank you to all of my wonderful supporters who  are praying for me, and giving money to allow me to be here in Lubbock going to Sunset International Bible Institute. I hope to make all of you proud. Thank you all for all you do.

On another note, please pray for the AIM students who are on the mission field all over the world. Please pray for the AIM students who are in Lubbock preparing to go to the mission field. I talked to a lot of them and they all enjoyed their trip to KY and AL. The are all back safe and sound. Thank God for that. I think they are going to have to make decisions on where they want for their mission field really soon. They’ll have to decide where they want to go and who they want to go with. Please pray for them about that. And please pray for more workers in the harvest fields. “… The harvest is pleniful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest therefore to send out more workers into the harvest fields” (Luke 10:2).

Thank you all again for all you do! God bless. Grace and Peace.

Some Grades

Hello everyone! I listed the Title as Some Grades, because I only got some grades. The school administration said they will mail us all of our final grades.

My overall grade in Introduction to Ministry Studies was 81. Not bad I guess. Final grade for Spiritual Disciplines was 93. I’m really happy with that grade. Both of these classes were really awesome and I learned a lot from the instructors and the class. I don’t know the rest of my final grades right now. I failed a couple of my final exams though. Really sorry about that. Will definetly do better this semester.

Thank you all for your prayers, love, and financial support. I love and miss you all so much! God bless. Grace and Peace.

Break Week

Hello everyone! Break Week is almost over. We start school again on Monday. If I understand correctly we should get our grades from the first term on Monday as well. I am confident about some classes and not so confident about others. I’ll post my grades here on Monday whether they are good or bad. Hopefully they will be good!

I have been using Break Week to read and study stuff I know we will have to read during the semester. So part of that is out of the way. The past term we took Old Testament History One covering Genesis through Joshua. We were supposed to read all of that in our Bibles and what was discussed about them in our other text book Old Testament History by Wilbur Fields. I read all of it in the Bible, but didn’t get it all read in the Fields book. That is what I focused a lot of attention doing during Break Week. So hopfully I am a little bit a head now. I am rested up and ready to hit the ground running come Monday.

Our classes this term are Old Testament History 2, Introduction to Homiletics, Greek, Christian Home, Evangelistic Message, and Preaching Lab. We’re going to learn a lot this semester! Can’t wait!

The AIM students and staff are in Paducah, KY working with the Lone Oak church of Christ right now. From there they go to Alabama for the World Mission Workshop at Faulkner University. They’ll be gone until next Sunday I think. I hope and pray this trip will be a positive experience for all of them. Please keep all of them in your prayers. Also, Rob and Denyce and their boys are in Ukraine now. In fact their whole team is there now. Please pray for them to get adjusted well, learn the language and culture well, and be ready to preach the Word and make disciples there.

Thank you all! God bless. Grace and Peace.

Greetings one and all. Please be praying for Rob and Denyce Hindman and their two sons today. They are probably on a plan (or is it plane, can’t remember right now) flying to Ukraine right now. I think the rest of their team is schedualed to arrive there in the next week or two. For updates please see robhindman.com (it is a link on the right).

This week is final exams week at Sunset International Bible Institute. Next week the AIM class leaves for the World Missions Workshop at Fulkner University in Alabama. From there they go to Paducah, KY to work with the Lone Oak Church of Christ for a few days. This church supports Kris Smith (the AIM director). Please keep them in your prayers. For updates about AIM please visit aimsunset.org.

The past few days we have learned about Sunset alumni who are sick. A few of them have cancer. There is one (can’t share his name) who graduated last year and has been in California has cancer. It sounds like he is doing real bad. Please pray for this brother.

Thank you all for reading today. God bless. Grace and Peace.

Greetings everyone! So sorry it’s taken me so long to blog my newsletter. Been real busy, but that’s no excuse. I’ll do better.

Anyhow, the current semester we are in is about to be over. Next week is final exams. Monday and Tuesday are regular school days. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are final exam days. The next week we have off from school, and we start school the following week with brand new classes. I think those classes will be Christian Home, OT History 2 (Judges through Malichi), Introduction to Homiletics, Greek, Evangelistic Methods, and Public Reading of Scripture (Preaching Lab). Plus Chapel everyday. It was really cool.

One thing I have started praying the last few days is “Lord, please give me the ears of faith to hear You when You speak to me. Please give me the eyes of faith to see You when You lead me. And please give me the strengh to follow You wherever You lead me”. I commit myself to pray this prayer everyday. Someone, anyone, please email everyday and ask me if I prayed that today. And if I’m actually doing that. Praying this is easy, but actually living it and doing it is totally new altogether.

One more thing before I go. I have also been thinking and praying what track emphasis I should do when I enter my second year at Sunset. You can either do Pulpit preaching or Family and Youth ministry. I thinking and leaning more heavily toward Family and Youth ministry. Some of my major ministry interests are (in no sertain order) Family and Youth ministries, College campus ministry, Young Adults ministries, Involvement ministries, and Outreach ministries. I hope to be ministering in at least a few of these areas wherever I go in life; both now and in the future.

Better let you all go now. Thanks for reading today. I’ll post about my grades next week (unless they are really bad. LOL! J/K). Thank you all again. God bless. Grace and Peace.
