Greetings everyone! While at the Campus Ministry workshop in Lubbock I met a guy who told me about a really cool book called Building A Discipleship Culture. Since then, I have thought a lot about it. I have never read the book, but hope to purchase it and read it at some point.
I’ve been doing some thinking about this topic alot the past few days. Acts 2:44-47 definitely addresses the topic of how to build a culture of discipleship. Acts 2 is where Peter preaches the first gospel sermon and close to three thousand people came to be baptized. All of these new found disciples stayed in Jerusalem meeting with everyone from house to house breaking bread together.
I imagine all twelve of the apostles were there and they all (plus others too perhaps) mentored these new disciples.
The apostles no doubt taught the new disciples the ways of Jesus, and how He is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.
The apostles were able to teach the new disciples about prayer and all the basics of Christianity.
In John’s gospel, Jesus told the apostles that everyone in the future who reads the aposltes’ words could believe about Jesus. All of this are perfect examples of that.
I’ll sign off now. Any comments, thoughts, questions, etc are welcomed and encouraged.
God bless. Grace and Peace.
