Greetings everyone! Sorry I didn’t blog much last week. The computer went down and we needed to take it to the shop. Got it back now and good to go.
In the sports world everyone is talking about the NFL and bounties. That is when coaches or team officials pay their players a little extra for injuring players on the other team. Football is a violent sport as it is already. All of this talk makes it worse all the more.
Since hearing about it, I started thinking about the church and all of God’s people.
In the book of Acts, the apostle Paul called the elders of Ephesus to meet with him at a beach. There he charged them to watch after the sheep they were commissioned to watch after. He told them to be on their guard because there would be wolves who would try to take them out. There might have even been wolves that would rise amongst their own number who will take each other out. In Galatians 6 Paul again warns the brethren there to look after those who are spiritually weak, and told to keep watch over themselves, lest they too be tempted. In 1 Peter 5, the apostle Peter urges those who are shepherds to watch after their sheep, and to watch themselves also. And I can’t forget about 1 Kings 13, the man of God from Judah. He prophesied successfully against the king and he was told by God not to stay where he was, not to eat there, or go home the same way he came. He met a man who claimed to be a prophet who asked him to go home with him. This man claimed to have a vision from God to have him come. He did, and God punished him for disobeying Him.
Each of these cases could be bounty cases, if you will.We must be careful of others. But don’t forget to protect yourself too. Satan is a bounty hunter, for sure.
Comments, thoughts, questions, etc are always welcomed and encourage.
God bless you all. Grace and Peace.
